September 20th, 2024

This week, we’re excited to welcome a new member to our team—Lauren! She’s joining us as our new Research Manager, and we’re thrilled to have her on board. Lauren brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the role.

In terms of weather, a 3-5” rainfall isn't the most ideal for mid-September. With the forecast showing minimal rainfall ahead, hopefully we can get back in the fields in short order. Here’s to hoping for a smooth and productive season ahead!

Have a great week!

Bru and Jenn

Meet Lauren!

Join us is welcoming Lauren to the Antara Agronomy Services team!

Lauren is taking on the role of Research Manager.  Lauren has just finished her Masters Degree in Agriculture.

Top 5 - This Week:

  1. Hopefully the 3-5" of rain received soaks in quick so we can get back to harvest and fall field work.
  2. Hearing reports of dry beans in windrows near Altona sprouting due to wet conditions and of canola swaths underwater near Steinbach.
  3. With the wet weather we have been busy working on our office expansion and compiling research results.
  4. We are over 250 field into the fall soil sampling season. Results thus far reflect the crop. Nitrogen levels are coming back low in the cereals and mid-range in canola.
  5. Not in the Fields this weekend? Come out to the St. Jean Quad Derby! I One of the largest organized ATV events in Canada!

    Top 5 - Next Week

    1. As we let the fields dry out it is a great time to be planning rotation, fertility and weed control for next season....
    2. For the members of our research group, expect to see early results as soon as next week!
    3. A light frost triggers perennial weeds to send reserves (and glyphosate) to the roots ahead of winter ensuring a good kill. While there aren't any frost events in the forecast, shorter days and good growing conditions should work in our favor. The questions now becomes whether or not to wait with fall burnoffs...
    4. Make sure you are taking good notes on this year's growing season and what you have learned.
    5. Scouting and Research participants, be on the lookout for your planter report cards starting this week. They are loaded with valuable emergence information that will help make you better. Remember, "Well SOWN = Well Grown!"
    6. Insights benchmarking program members, please keep sending us your 2024 growing season information. We will be pushing hard to get you results back ahead of the new calendar year. We are adding alot of valuable information and even better "insights" for 2024! Stay Tuned!
