Seeding is well underway across southern Manitoba, but extremely dry topsoil was raising concerns. Many producers planting at or near the moisture line, hoping for rain soon just got their wish! This much needed rain will do wonders to support crop emergence and recharge the soil. At the time of writing this another inch could erase many mistakes!
Unseasonably high temperatures have accelerated fieldwork, though a sharp drop in temperatures is expected this weekend. The timely rain will help get everything off to a good start. Cooler weather and overcast skies may help reduce crusting but we could do without the potential frost risk.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Bru, Jenn and the team!
