While things are looking good across the board, we’ve officially seen the first signs ofharvest kicking off — a few fields of fall rye are already coming off. It’s a clear signal that we’re not far out from full swing.
If you haven’t already, it’s a good time to get soil sampling on the radar so we can get ahead of the fall rush and set the stage for next season.
Corn Progress
Corn stands are lookingstrong and uniform, with fields growing quickly and benefiting from the recent stretch of warmth and moisture. One of our team members put it best this week: "This corn is TWICE my height!!"
Cereal Crops
Cereals are progressing nicely, with many fields at medium dough stage now. The recent moisture has helped support kernel development and reduce some of the earlier drought stress on lighter soils. We’re still seeing minimal disease pressure, which is a welcome trend this year.
Canola Watch
A few later-seeded or re-seeded fields are still in bloom, and those acres are making good use of the recent rains.
We are seeing some flea beetles showing up in our sweeps this week. No economic damage right now but something to keep in mind when planning your canola location for next year.
Bean Talk
Crops are looking strong these days. Any that were hit with herbicide damage are bouncing back and recovering well. Check out our video below for more on this.⬇️
A troublesome weed for many growers. It’s part of the sunflower family and originally comes from Eurasia and North Africa. You’ll spot it by its daisy-like flowers with white petals and a yellow center. Unlike many daisies, when you crush it, it has no scent at all—that’s how it got its name.
