Crop Talk
Crop progress has really picked up especially with the rains this week. With dense canopies filling in, it’s a good time to stay on the lookout for waterhemp and other late-emerging weeds that may sneak through thinner spots or field edges.
Corn Progress
Corn continues to surge ahead — many fields are now over 5-6ft. The rain was well-timed, helping support strong vegetative growth. Overall, stands are healthy, uniform, and bug pressure remains a non-issue.
Cereal Crops
Wheat is progressing steadily through grain fill into mid-milk stage, and most stands are holding strong. Lighter soils are looking less stressed, and still no significant leaf disease to note. An extra shot of rain wouldn’t hurt as we move through grain fill.
Canola Watch
Most canola is finishing podding, with a few earlier fields pushing into the later stages. Stands look uniform and strong. Continued moisture will be important to keep the yield potential up as pods continue to fill.
Bean Talk
Soybeans are thriving in the moisture. We have seen some herbicide damage in fields. Those fields are recovering, a reminder to pay attention to spray conditions.
