You can definitely feel autumn in the air this week, especially after those hot temps we endured just last week.
Harvest is still in full swing! Trials are coming off, beans are nearly wrapped up, and corn harvest is just kicking into gear. There’s a buzz of activity everywhere – trucks are rolling, combines are humming, and the lineups at the elevators are growing longer by the day.
We hope everyone has had a smooth and successful harvest so far!
Have a great week!

Top 5 - This Week:
Soybean and corn trials are coming off.
Light frost activity will trigger perennial weeds to keep putting reserves into their roots for winter. Good time for fall weed control.
Take the time to properly manage your soybean residue. Even distribution of soybeans can be a challenge but it can mean the difference between a good crop and a great one. It was quite evident in many corn fields this spring.
Keep assessing harvest losses. A 3-4 bu loss in soybeans can add up and might justify some equipment upgrades.
With the cooler weather on the horizon, think about applying nitrogen fertilizers after soil temperatures drop below 10°C to minimize nitrogen loss. A general rule of thumbis to wait two weeks after the start of the NH3 season to begin fall applyications of urea.
As crops come off the field, now is an ideal time to take soil tests and assess nutrient levels for next year’s crop. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels need to be adjusted for crop rotation plans.
After harvest, take the opportunity to scout fields for signs of soil compaction or drainage issues. Compaction is more likely if conditions have been wet during harvest. Address these issues before they worsen and impact future crops.
Early Book Seed season is underway. If you are participating in our agronomy benchmarking program, get your harvest data into us as soon as possible so we can process it and back in your hands to help make decisions.
Days are getting shorter and visibility getting is poorer. Keep road safety top of mind when moving large equipment.
