Happy CANADA Day!
As we move further into the growing season, it’s essential to stay updated on the current weather patterns, growing conditions, and optimal times for spraying. Our Antara agWeather Network can help you stay up to date with the latest information to help you make the best decisions for your crops. This month has seen a mix of weather conditions across our region. We experienced a lot of rain early in the month which has continued off and on with cooler than normal temperatures. The initial rain boosted soil moisture levels, supporting early root development and seedling growth but it has made herbicide applications a challenge.
Spraying timing has been harder this year with the rain, wind and cold weather. It’s advisable to spray early in the morning or evening to avoid the heat of the day but this year that hasn't been the case. Especially for a product like Liberty where we can probably count OK spraying days on one hand. It shows in the field that the performance of this chemistry is not up to our usual standards. Always adhere to recommended guidelines and safety practices when handling and applying pesticides.
Unfortunately we are seeing Tall Waterhemp seedlings popping up quickly in some areas. Now is the time to be scouting your acres for waterhemp. If you are feeling as though you can not cover your acres in a timely fashion, let us help you. Please feel free to reach out, we are always here to help! Waterhemp is not something to be ignored. We hope you have a safe & relaxing Canada Day long weekend. Please note that our office will be closed on Monday July 1st.
Have a great weekend!
